Responding to COVID-19

Refining NZ has put additional precautions in place to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and to manage any impact on the business.

We have established a COVID-19 health management plan focused on the health & safety of our staff and contractors and the continued operation of our refining and distribution business to support a resilient fuels supply to the country.

As part of that plan we have identified essential people and skills needed to keep the refinery operating, with backup resources in the event that critical people and skills are not be available.

Where operationally possible we are looking to split teams across locations and have established a gap between operator shifts to allow for work areas to be properly ventilated.  As an added precaution, facilities are in place for staff to work from home, if needs be.

Staff, contractors and visitors to the site are being provided guidance on social distancing and personal hygiene measures. Hand sanitizing stations are available across the Refinery and we have stepped up cleaning of all communal areas.

We are following Ministry of Health advice on quarantine procedures. These will apply to any staff member returning from overseas, or who may become infected with COVID-19 or may have come into contact with an infected person.

We are continuing to monitor the situation daily and will amend our COVID-19 health management plan as Ministry of Health advice is updated.
