Response to COVID 19 – UPDATE
Refining NZ is committed to keeping our people, our community and environment safe during this period of uncertainty.
Following the announced escalation in response to COVID 19, Refining NZ has taken additional measures to keep our staff and operations safe.
As fuel production is an essential service, we will continue to operate the refinery and Refinery to Auckland pipeline safely and help to secure the country’s supply of transport fuels while COVID 19 restrictions remain in place.
With the elevation in the national response to level four, from midnight Wednesday 25 March, only essential staff will be working at our Marsden Point site. Contractors, except those needed for core maintenance, will not be on site. Refining NZ staff not required for essential operations will be working from home and have been provided the facilities to work remotely.
We are continuing to operate with our COVID 19 health management plan which follows Ministry of Health guidelines on preventing the spread of COVID 19. As part of that plan, all staff have been provided with clear guidelines around social distancing, personal hygiene and separate working at the refinery.
We are monitoring the COVID situation closely, updating our plan and keeping our staff, contractors and our community up to date on any significant changes to our operations.
